Nova Invitational Nids - 1st Try

Well as you know from my article on Thursday I'm going to be running Tyranids in the Nova Invitational as well as the Open. I figured I'd share the first of my thoughts with you guys on what I'm thinking of running for the Invitational.

The Invitational is a little weird in that first off I never play 1750. Add into it that 1750 is weird since I can't seem to find a happy balance between T6 and small gribblies. That being said here is my first attempt. It has the advantage of including my Parasite which would double as my "Converted" model for the painting score.

HQ

Parasite-160

Elite

2 Hive Guard-100

2 Hive Guard-100

Troops

10 Termagants-50

Tervigon-195
Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs

Fast Attack

5 Raveners-175
Rending Claws

Rending Claws

11 Gargoyles-66

Heavy Support

Carnifex-190
2xTL-Devourer

Carnifex-190
2xTL-Devourer

Total: 1746

Now this isn't a list I'm completely happy with. I feel like I'm making cuts where I shouldn't. However it does boast 32 T6 Wounds on either scoring or high damage output models. I'm not sold on the number of Gargoyles as an escort for the Parasite but to be fair I never seem to be able to get more than 6-7 of them into combat at a time and normally don't lose to many to ranged firepower but even so I think I'd like 15ish. Now I could switch my Tervigon to an HQ, drop the second squad of termigants, add 4 more gargoyles and use the rest to flush out the remaining termigant squad. Either way I'm still torn, I like the speed, shooting, and hitting power but I feel like it's missing something.....

As per usual all thoughts are welcome :)

I'm not really sure if the Parasite and Gargs are helping you, b/c the garg count is so small.

Those 222 points could be far better spent on a pair of proper kitted Primes to attach to the Fexes each. $.02

That's one of the other thoughts. My reasoning for the Parasite was the forward synapse for my Raveners who run if you look at them funny without supporting synapse. That said I'm not sold on Parasite in 1750 yet at all. I've got a few more lists I'll be posting of the next few days. Going to get a few games in this weekend with a few of the ideas and see where they take me :)

For ten more points each you get to upgrade your 'fexes to Trygons...

Range is more important in these lists than massive almost impossible to get cover save monsters that are geared for CC :)

Though I do have a list coming up wtih 2 of them in it.
Tyranids. Bravo!

It is missing GENESTEALERS!!!
Hulk - I posted up all of the 'nid ETC lists for this year (1750 point level) a few weeks ago. Most are very heavy on 'stealers. http://midlifegamingcrisis.blogspot.com/2011/07/l...

I think those lists are geared a little toward being able to choose their match-up. I don't think I'd ever be comfortable fielding 3 Tervigons with all the Space Wolves I might encounter. At least not at 1750.....I'm toying with a few I1 dominant lists but with actual shooting I feel better about it.
