Nova Invitational Nids - 1,500pt Upgrade

I recently (using the term loosely) ran a 1,500pt list at a RTT over in La Crosse. It was a pretty nasty list in the sense that it had 40 T6 wounds which is pretty overwhelming at that point level. It repaid me by going 3-0 and only 1 objective short of a perfect score. So if it worked then why couldn't I just upgrade it and run it at 1.75k? This accidentally loosely ties in with Dash's article from Saturday.

Here is what I came up with:

HQ:

Prime-100
Boneswords, Toxin Sacs

Elite:

2 Hive Guard-100

2 Hive Guard-100

2 Hive Guard-100

Troop:

19 Genestealers-266

10 Termagants-50

10 Termagants-50

Tervigon-195
Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs

Tervigon-195
Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs

Heavy Support:

Carnifex-190
2xTL-Devourer

Trygon-200

Trygon-200

The idea is pretty simple. It's got an almost overwhelming number of T6 wounds supported by moderate shooting and a major early threat. I think it suffers more than the faster variants against things like DE but it's someting I'm considering. A major worry is naturally the Trygons and whether they'll be able to pull down cover saves or not but I'm less worried about that at Nova than I have been in the past based on the quality of the terrain.

I'm not totally sold on this as a big bug list so maybe I'll play with some stuff and see if maybe losing a T6 wound or two makes the list stronger regarding shooting and immediate threats.....

Hi Hulk,

Looks good, could you talk us through the list in terms of deployment and where the FNP is going? Would you look to put early pressure on with the Stealers and take advantage of using one large unit by putting catalyst on them, or is it for the Trygons? Under what circumstances would you outflank the Stealers?

If i'm asking too much and just need to go l2p then please feel free to tell me to do so, I'd just be interested in learning how the list plays.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

I use FnP to determine my opponents shooting. So it's use is heavily dependant on my opponents army as well as all the mission paraments and other random events before and during the game. A large unit for Stealers is a pressure unit and so will rarely deploy via outflank as the risk of them not being part of the game is to small. Most of the time at least 1 FnP goes to the genestealers to increase their threat and survivability.

I'm honestly more inclined to keep the list similar but drop the Trygons for 2 squads of 6 raveners for more speed and similar survivability.

The prime looks like 100 points of babysitter. who's he watching? the Hive guard or the fex? either way, do you think that he's needed? looks more effective with the fex.

You could drop the prime and a termagant unit, then move a tervigon to the hq slot. this would free up 150 points, or simply drop some termigants and move a tervigon for 50 points. You could also look into combining the hive guard units. Then you can do things with a venomthrope or zoanthrope, etc.

Prime gives the Carnifex cover and provides a mini-death star capable of killing of enemy deathstars like Nob Bikers or TWC. Also allows the Carni to live longer and provide excellent short ranged fire support.
What was added from the 1500 list?

Nice list, I think you need some raveners or gargoyles or Ymarls.

My 1500 is:
Terv 195 x 3
Tryprime AG x 3
Termagaunts x 13
Hive guard x 2

6 big bugs
