Nova Invitational Blood Angels #1

SomethingYellow-Heresy Online

So army ADD has kicked in again and I'm looking at my 90% painted BA portion of my DIY that I only played at a single tournament. I'm a little obsessed with the Sanguinor but also with a Sanguinary Guard army. Here is what I'm thinking of:

HQ

Dante-225

Sanguinor-275

Elite

Sanguinairy Priest-90
Jump Pack, Power Weapon

Troops

Sanguinairy Guard-230
2xInferno Pistols, Powerfist

Sanguinairy Guard-230
2xInferno Pistols, Powerfist

Sanguinairy Guard-230
2xPlasma Pistols, Powerfist

Sanguinairy Guard-230
2xPlasma Pistols, Powerfist

10 Assault Marines-240
2xMeltas, 2xLightning Claws

This comes out to 1,750 on the nose. The lightning claw Sergeant turns into a mini-captain automatically so he'll be throwing out 5 St5 attacks on the charge at WS5 and that's if he's not near the Sanguinor. Sanguinor is a small unit/character killer. Plus I've got a hella cool conversion planned and he's a beast. Dante with making the SG's Troops, Hit-n-Run, and pinpoint deepstrike is pretty nice. I am thinking about dropping one SG squad to bring another Assault Marine unit. What do you guys think?

Nice. Building a very similar army myself but also have some other accoutrements I am building along side the basic sanguinor/dante build (storm raven + dread, librarian, speeders, considering termies as well).

Anyevent that'd be a fun army for sure. One priest seems a little light though to me, but I am far from an expert on the subject.

Only two concerns: 1) One priest doesnt really give you the coverage you need to get full use out of your mobility. That being said, 75 points is hard to squeeze out of this list. The only way I can see getting it is dropping the power weapon on the first priest, one LC off the assault marine seargant, downgrading ASM meltas to flamers, and dropping a special weapon off each troop. Unfortunately, this violates my point two.

2) Subject to playtesting, you should try to fit in a little more anti-tank. You have 3 effective anti-tank lists. You could get two more by switching plasma pistols to infernus pistols. But thats just personal preference.

Overall, thought, it looks great!

Just for reference, I run a similar list at 1750:
Dante 225
Sanguinary Priests (2): 2xJP 150
Sanguinary Guard: 2xInfernus Pistol, Powerfist 230
Sanguinary Guard: 2xInfernus Pistol, Powerfist 230
Sanguinary Guard: 2xInfernus Pistol, Powerfist 230
Assault Squad (10): 2xmeltagun, Powerfist 235
Assault Squad (10): 2xmeltagun, Powerfist 235
Assault Squad (10): 2xflamer, Power weapon 235

looking forward to seeing you there in action. I have a silly question, as a player, would you object to wearing a wireless mic at the top table to help us video-cover the game?

@Pat

If I made it I wouldn't. I would advise a swear filter though....Unless I can see small people I don't tend to have my own filter. But otherwise I'd be down :)

@Winterman

Yeah, the one Priest bugs me a bit. I have 2 at 1850 but one seems all I can add and keep my model/unit count where I think I need it.

@Eric

Not a bad list. It's solid the only real difference is the additional squad/priest in exchange for the Sanguinor. Since I'm jivin on the Sanguinor this is what I'd be running since he also give me another that is hidden in CC which is hot!

Perhaps turning one of the sang guard into honor guard? Lose a scoring unit but model count is the same, anti-tank is preserved and you get one more bubble.

@Hulksmash: Its definitely a matter of preference. Actually, I owe you a major thanks for getting me on the right track for a Dante 2000 list. Not sold on the Sanguinor yet, but I'll try him out.
