Space Marine 1,850 - Count-As Iron Warriors

This was something I was thinking could be fun. It's something that I think is fairly competitive even against extreme builds. It also moderately fits the theme for the models I'm building.

HQ

Pedro-175

4 Honor Guard-205
1 Relic Blade, HB Razorback

Elite

5 Sternguard-185
3xCombi-Melta, 2xMulti-Melta, Rhino

5 Sternguard-180
2xCombi-Melta, 2xMulti-Melta, Rhino

Troop

10 Tactical Marines-260
Meltagun, Lascannon, Powerfist, Combi-Melta, HB Razorback

10 Tactical Marines-260
Meltagun, Lascannon, Powerfist, Combi-Melta, HB Razorback

Fast Attack

10 Assault Marines-235
Thunder Hammer, Shorm Shield, Rhino

10 Assault Marines-235
Thunder Hammer, Shorm Shield, Rhino

Heavy Support

Vindicator-115

It's 1,850 on the nose. For the theme I'd prefer Heavy Flamers or Las/Plas on the Razors but currently don't have the points to spare. It's got two Multi-Melta bunkers that score with 4 more scoring units in the form of the combat squaded tactical marines. I figure I can model out the Honor Guard as pimped chosen and they are death on wheels for anything without a 3++. Vindicator for hopefully picking off those pesky termies and TWC. The army has a solid CC element especially with the added attacks that Pedro can add. Overall I think it can hang. Thoughts fellas?

Other than the vindicator, how does the army deal with long range shooting from Psyflemen dreads?

Lascannons & Multi-Meltas (starting turn 2)? Other than that bringing my own cover while I close with firesupport.
Meh. I thought about revitalizing my CSM army with a SM Count-As, and its just boring... I realize that's your next ambition, but I'd almost rather play anything else right now than CSM. I know they are getting updated in the future, but I'm just going to patiently wait for that update (and all the new sick minis I will buy).

To be honest I doubt I'll have the whole army painted before the new book drops anyway. Just something to keep my attention focussed is all :)

I'm sure you said something good. I just have no idea what it is :)
Google says its Vietnamese and this is his comment:

Fasting is good for your health and treating some diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, vegetarian diet vegetarian Application can be reduced to half the risk of tumor development, the researchers said. You just have to be meat, fish can provide adequate protein essential for the body. This thinking is not entirely true. protein not only in meat, but not in many other foods. Rather, vegetarian diets are often high-fiber content, Mg, K, vitamin C, E, folate, carotenoids, flavonoids and other chemicals from passing high over salt diet. Today, vegetarianism has become popular. In addition to the vegetarian beliefs, the rest see fasting as a means of purifying the body and to reduce the risk of some diseases.
See, it's good, just not applicable to the current conversation :D
Why SM and not BA? BA do have better Vindicators, Honour Guard and Assault Marines

Same style of list in BA actually cost more and are less effective. Granted part of the effectiveness difference is Pedro. The point costs of the vehicles also add up pretty heavily. I didn't want a 100% combat force and I did want it mechanized so this is one of the few times codex SM trumps something I could build out of codex SW or BA :)

Not sure this could hurt a good SW list!
I'm not sure how this list plays. 2 TH/SS hidden in a 10 man assault squad that can't charge ot of their Rhinos. Only one Vindi that is going to be targeted first by the enemy. And A2 relic blade with FNP for 205pts? Even with Pedro I don't get it.

Assault Squad's are a turn 2/3 assault unit out of a stationairy rhino. So assaulting after moving isn't a huge deal. If the Vindi is targeted then it allows the rest of the army to close. Vindi's are scary but don't normally do crazy amounts of damage.

And I think you confused a BA Honor Guard with a SM Honor Guard. Totally different unit. No FnP but 2+ save. All are armed with PW's and have 3A's with dual weapons. The Relic Blade has WS5 and 3 Attacks. This isn't including Pedro's bonus attack. It's a blender unit.
I'dd like to play against this kind of unusual army. Still thing one vindicator is not going to take in all what is directed at it.

Command squad actually. I've kinda overlooked the whole entry in the codex because it requires a chapter master.
Yeah, the only time I'd ever use one is if I was using Pedro. The +1 attack and captain level attacks from the sergeant make it very nice for not to expensive.
I don't see the point of the storm shield in the assault squads, surely you'd be avoiding allocating wounds of him anyways? Just wondering if the points would be better spent on dual flamers in the assault squads?
