Dark Angel Dual Wing - 1850



So there is an 1,850pt tournament this Saturday and I'm thinking might be fun to run:

So it's got 8 scoring units. Tons of anti-tank in the form of the Melta Guns. Solid CC with a decent number of missile launcher shots. Sammael in the Speeder adds decent firepower, provides the other Landspeeder with permanent cover save, and should give you a chance at last turn contesting objectives. It's not a list you almost ever see but I think it could be a lot of fun. Plus I'd get to use my converted Jetbikes that count-as Attack Bikes. As always comments are welcome :)

I can't see a use for the Power Fists in the 3 man squads.
First, you don't want the squads in CC, so you will very rarely be assaulting. Second, you will likely be assaulted, and with only 3 models, you will lose combat (and probably have to make saves on the PF model before he swings in any case). Between the normal wounds and the Fearless wounds, I would expect to see the squad die when it's assaulted. Is doing a bit more damage worth the 25 points on each squad?
Removing them nets 100 points. You could upgrade the Speeder to a VenDread for that price and get a Dread CCW that is actually usable in CC as well as some firepoiwer, or more likely, just get a 2nd Speeder. If you put it in the same squad, it still benefits from perma-cover from Sammael. Put MBs on the PF guys instead, and tip the bellboy 5 points.

I see where you are coming from on it but I do actually see a purpose for the fists. In all honesty with units this small sometimes the only place to hide in your opponents turn if he can shoot is in CC. So it increases my ability. Also allows my squad to be able to shoot 5-6 man MEQ units and then charge.

If you run the numbers you'll see a slow widdle down to almost mutual annihilation against a 6-man Grey Hunter squad they shoot then charge. Overall the fist works and it's ability to threaten more mech doesn't hurt either. I find the flexibility to be worth more than an extra speeder since I'm going to have to be in knife range of my opponents anyway with the bikes.

I think it looks fun!!! I have never used Sammuel though. I like the idea.

Indeed I am my friend! Just making the arrangements in the next week or so :)
Please do a short battle report how it went, the list looks very funny!
I prefer to play without fighting fists and substitute energy weapon. Also remove the speeder and add three bikes up to 6 more with apothecary.
