Dark Star - The List

Well now that I’m pretty darn sure I’m going to manage to get everything painted in time for Saturday it’s time I post the list I sent in for the Dark Star.

HQ

Malleus Inquisitor – 80
Terminator Armor, Psycannon

Elite

7 Purifiers – 198
2 Psycannons, 5 Halberds

Troop

10 Strikes – 250
Hammer, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo

10 Strikes – 250
Hammer, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo

10 Strikes – 250
Hammer, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo

10 Strikes – 250
Hammer, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo

10 Strikes – 250
Hammer, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo

Heavy Support

Dreadknight – 160
Heavy Incinerator

Dreadknight – 160
Heavy Incinerator

Total: 1848

That’s it. 28-52 St7 Rending shots, 10 St4 shots, and 80 St5 shots per turn with 60 models on the table. No Psyfle Dreads, Henchmen, or Paladins. A foot list based around Strikes. It’s a pity that the discussion in the article on Dakka about how OP Grey Knights are didn’t get around to explaining how Strikes are one of the worst troop choices in the game before I turned in my list. Guess I’ll have to make due J

Basically the list plays similar to a slightly shorter ranged version of my Logan-wing run last year at the Nova Open. It puts out an intimidating amount of fire power, has some backstop support in the form of the Dreadknights, and is 100% mobile. I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun weekend. Keep an eye out for pictures of my army and objective markers. Friday or Saturday is when they’ll be up.

Looks like fun to play, Good luck
Let us know how it goes. Will be an interesting addition to the argument on dakka about the viability of the shrike squads.

That conversation made me smile and shake my head. While I don't think GK's are OP I do think they have very few not-solid options. And depending on what you're looking for Strikes are very solid.
Interesting list. It would be a welcome change to razor spam people around here mostly plays.
My friend has good experiences on DK with teleporter. You are probably facing a lot of xenos since flamer isn't the best thing against MEQ?

Not to many xenos. You can see the breakdown of the codexes that will be showing up in my previous post. However the flame templates ability to eliminate pesky lightly armored hiding in cover units and the sheer number of wounds you can put on a unit that gets blasted out of a transport means it's worth it. Not to mention if any of those DE bring beast packs the flamers will probably be a lifesaver.

So basically for versatility :)
I have tried the Dreadknights on foot and they pale in comparison to them with the teleporter. I know it's an expensive upgrade, but it's 100% worth every point. Being able to shunt into the back field and burn down HS choices and potentially assault them is worth it every time.
Looks like an interesting list, but if any dedicated CC unit gets into your strike squad lines, they are going to start folding pretty fast.

The 2k list is exactly the same with Teleporters :)

As for folding in CC I agree. But as long as I manage to not get multi-charged I should be able to shoot down any unit that wipes out my little strike squad friends :)
Right on, it's good to see people using Dreadknights. I have been a vocal supporter since day 1. It seems like people forget that there are more than just rhinos to kill out in the world, haha

Hey, do you work for them or just a person who plays there? If you work for them email tskf.blog@gmail.com all the details you currently have and I'll get it put on here under GT's and see about drumming up some more players. May is the empty month for GT's right now. At least within a reasonable distance.

I just play. I was talking to one of the guys who works there and he said they are renting a building on the state fair grounds to host it. Other than that, and the little blerb in on that web page, that is all I know at the current time.

Also, I do know that they are planning on it being 50 players.

And that it is 1850 points haha. I didn't realize it said so little on that page. Sorry for the spotty thread.
No worries, I'll call the store in the next week or two and get some more details :) Thanks for the heads up.

No prob
Dreadknights are also super powerful in the necron matchup, they roast hiding warrior units with ease (and attached crypteks) and most importantly: scarabs. Double wounds and instakilling means you take out the majority if not all of the swarm when you hit it.

How I love hellhound stylings...

This list will be very tough if you come up against any heavy deep striking armies.

Good luck. It's a cool list.
Must be nice to have a fully painted army! D: D:

*Grumbles about cars, tires, and how the Emperor wasn't watching over him...*

Haha. See you in a couple days sir. Where I eagerly await you on the battlefield. ;)

lol, did you manage to at least close to replacing the lost models? I feel for ya man. If I'd come home and the dog had gotten to mine I'd probably lose it for a bit. See ya in a couple days!
Aye, I have extra models that I can use so at least I'll be able to play. Benefits of having such a large slew of models. :)
IMO GK full foot lists work far better with Coteaz so you can pick up cheap-as-chips henchmen with SB's to add to your torrent, while still keeping the Psycannon count up with Purifiers.

Something like:

Coteaz 100
Librarian, Shrouding, Might of Titan, Summoning, Quicksilver 170

(10) Purifiers, 4x Psycannon, 1x Hammer 285
(10) Purifiers, 4x Psycannon, 1x Hammer 285
(10) Purifiers, 4x Psycannon, 1x Hammer 285

(10) Strike Squad, 2x Psycannon 220
4x DCA, 7x Warrior Acolytes, 1x Mystic 98
4x DCA, 7x Warrior Acolytes, 1x Mystic 98
12x Warrior Acolytes, 9x Storm bolter, 3x meltagun 105
12x Warrior Acolytes, 8x Storm bolter, 3x meltagun 102
12x Warrior Acolytes, 8x Storm bolter, 3x meltagun 102

= 1850
I'm really eager to see how this all foot-slogging list will hold up to typical mech-spammage.
Nice LIst Hulk glad to see something outside of the box working well. Ive been wondering how 60 Strikes on foot would work as I recently acquired someones 30+ models who was moving on from the Knights.
Wow, I love this list! I've been playing GK for a little under a year and always griped about my small model count. Never thought to spam strike squads. I played a 750 game against IG this weekend and managed a tie with a lot of poor rolling on my psycannons part. Fortunately I primarily only had to deal with chimaras (only one russ running around). you would think in 5 turns I could have blown up one av12 vehicle - apparently not.
