My Current 1,850 Necrons

So the holidays have mostly come and gone and I’m home and not ridiculously behind anymore so it’s time to start posting all over again J

I’m going to start with where I’m currently at with my Necrons. I think it’s a solid list though I’m sure it’s going to require a lot of playing to get the feel of as it’ll require careful movement and it’s different than most armies I play. Anywho:

HQ

Overlord-195
Command Barge, Septimal Weave, Warscythe

Troop

10 Immortals-170

5 Wraiths-175

Total: 1,848

I think it’s solid. The careful movement is going to be with the Command Barges. I’ll also need to perfect when maybe bailing out of one after a sweeping attack to charge another unit might be a good idea. Basically it comes down to 2 turns of night fight for my opponent while I hopefully pick off 2-3 light vehicles so my Wraiths can get up in it. Also the Night Fight will allow me to position my Barges on turn 1 for a turn 2 strike while limiting my opponents ability to focus fire on them. The small warrior squads are obviously objective grabbers but the Immortals add quite a bit of firepower against debarked units.

I think it has all the tools to compete this year and right now it’s currently my 1,850 list for the beginning part of 2012. What do y’all think?

Am finding it odd no Whips on the Wraiths and are the Crypteks assigned out assuming you can double up assigning them? Banking on quite a bit there, lol. I think Mindshackles > 2+ Saves from my experience using them, especially because it helps in your Combat Res. That's about it from me.

I've found that whips aren't essential for the Wraiths so I'm saving the 40pts (2 whips per squad).

As for the Crypteks they aren't being deployed into squads. They are being run as mobile long fangs which is why I only expect them to last 2 turns. Once the solar pulses are out they'll go down fast.

The mindshackles are awesome but not so much on solo lords who's focus is going to be vehicles and devastator type squads.

Good thoughts though.
Hmm, aren't you incapable of harming a Land Raider? That could be a major problem. Spotlights could really spike your planning. One lucky/sacrificial spotlight could cost you a Court before they really accomplish anything.

What are you going to do against Eldar/DE? I would think the DE will simply be all over you and Eldar too hard to catch/hurt with all that 24" weaponry.

Also, which option on the A.Barges?
Oops, forgot that Warscythes make 2d6 rolls. Well, they are still your only heavy metal cracker. Nothing else can shoot and hurt AV13/14, but the same goes for most Necron armies.

I'd fear Baals, Hellhounds, and HF Land Speeders. All have the possibility of zipping through your backfield and obliterating those 5 strong Warrior units. Landspeeders are the most dangerous of the lot, but then I think they can be really strong against Necrons.
Sacrificial spotlights are an issue. But that is more tactical than strategic. Basically it's something that is so dependant on mission, the enemy army list, and terrain that it isn't quantifiable at the strategic level. It's something you accept that for this option you will find a way to compensate for on the table.

As for the LR issue outside of the Warscythes it's just how things go. Technically I have 4 units that can kill LR's. The two command barges and the two Wraith units. To be fair though if they have gone with 2+ LR's there isn't a ton left on the table.

AV 13 is a bit scary in numbers but only 2 armies can spam AV13, Necrons and BA. Against Necrons it would be an interesting fight. Against BA I'd have to rely on side shots or CC again to remove the threat.
I'll also agree that Hellhounds and Landspeeders are a huge fear for me. Also on the list is Dreadknights w/H. Incinerators and IG Colossi. And to a less extent Whirlwinds and Biovores :)

I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about it beyond make them priority targets for the C.Barge sweeps and Lances. Thank god Lances are AP 2, else Dreadknights would be much worse.
How do you feel this would stand up againts a BA Jumper list? Once they are able to get into CC, it would be a downhill slide for you.
