So....Blood Angels?

While I wait for concrete information on the new Necrons J

As you guys know I played at the Ard Boy Finals last week and finished somewhere in the middle going 2-1. I took an all foot and mostly jumper based Blood Angels army that included Dante and the Sanguinor. That being said the events of the weekend got me thinking a wee bit about something that would be fun and that I pretty much already have painted to play given the chance. Here is the list and then we’ll talk about it a bit and my thoughts.

HQ

Sanguinor-275

Mephiston-250

Elite

Furioso w/Blood Talons-125

Furioso w/Blood Talons-125

2 Sanguinary Priest-100

Troops

5 Assault Marines-180
Lascannon/TL-Plasmagun Razorback, Meltagun, Lightning Claw

5 Assault Marines-180
Lascannon/TL-Plasmagun Razorback, Meltagun, Lightning Claw

5 Assault Marines-180
Lascannon/TL-Plasmagun Razorback, Meltagun, Lightning Claw

5 Assault Marines-180
Lascannon/TL-Plasmagun Razorback, Meltagun, Lightning Claw

Heavy Support

Stormraven-200
TL-Multi Melta, TL-Assault Cannon

Stormraven-200
TL-Multi Melta, TL-Assault Cannon

So this is my version of Hero Hammer. I’ve got the two nastiest units in the Blood Angel codex supported by Furioso Dreads and delivered in style. The troops can either pick on light vehicles to give our hero’s something to break or can move on later at speed to hold onto objectives. Sanguinor and Mephiston compliment each other pretty well which is nice too.

Overall I think it’d be a fun and nasty list. It’s not the greatest list in the world and not something I’d recommend building and tweaking to but if you have the models for other armies already it could be a fun change of pace. It’s rare to find a workable list with killer characters nowadays and this one is just a blast. What do you guys think of it? Is it something you could see running or are there major gaps that I’m missing in it’s ability? Comment away!

I think the general confusion about what to attack in this army would certainly make an opponent uncomfortable.

A canny opponent who sticks to the mission can probably win the day though a poorer one might fold up shop by only seeing the big targets.
That's really not that bad for 2000pts. missile spam lists will give it a run, but at the same time every unit in the list can run through shooty lists if it gets there. Its biggest problem would be heavily meched up lists, that it might not be able to crack, since it has limited firepower. again truely terrifiying to face up against, and probably a blast to have on the table, with lots of high strung moments.
You ignore me on Vassal the other day so I shall comment not!

No, the irony is not lost on me.

Lol, I haven't been on vassal in ages! When did I ignore Mr. Kirby :( Email me sometime and maybe we'll set up a game buddy. Would be neat even if you are like 10 hours time different than me (or something ridiculous).
Maybe it was an imposter! Was around a week ago and it's around an 8 hour reverse time time difference depending upon area of the US you're in :P.
The Sanguinor is not reliable against any unit except for the one chosen, HQ unit, that you selected when the Sanguinor was placed on the table. Mephiston is quite a bit more reliable and is definetely augmented by the Sanguinor, but I think that Dante or a reclusiarch are a better choice for a 2nd HQ. Think about putting a 10 man assault team with a reclusiarch and priest in one of your stormravens or forego the 2nd stormraven and 2nd furioso for some predators or baal predators.
More MSU ...

Nah, not MSU. GK or Wolves with 10+ hulls and bucketloads of meltasquads/PAGK, now THATS MSU :D

The list looks fun though, Mephiston is just great fun to play, haven't tried out Sanguinor though, his cost and vulnerability to torrent put me off him.
6 Units in Vehicles isn't generally considered MSU. I wanted true MSU I could easily run GK's with 12 Vehicles and 13 Units :)
