Orks w/Tankbusta’s!

I was reading 3++ a little while ago and one of their authors was doing a unit by unit review of the Ork Codex. When he touched on Tankbusta's I thought to myself that there was an under-rated unit if I've ever seen one. To be fair the author didn't say they were terrible but the implication was they have no place in a competitive list. Well I think they have a home in a competitive list just that they take a little bit of working around. So my non-25 AV army will be built around this unit. I mean what's not to like about an entire squad of rockkits J? Well here we go:

-HQ-

Warboss-60

Big Mek-85
KFF

 -Elite-

10 Tankbustas-190
2xTank Hammers, 3xBomb Squigs, Nob w/PK

3 Buggies-105
3xTL-Rokkits

3 Buggies-105
3xTL-Rokkits

-Heavy Support-

Battlewagon-130
Deffrolla, Grot Riggers, Big Shoota, and Armored Plates

Battlewagon-130
Deffrolla, Grot Riggers, Big Shoota, and Armored Plates

Battlewagon-130
Deffrolla, Grot Riggers, Big Shoota, and Armored Plates

So as you can tell this list is designed to dismantle mech (well, how Orks dismantle Mech). There aren't any real lychpin units that can be exploited and there a 4 vehicle AV14 wall armed with Deffrollas is enough to make most people wince. Believe it or not the main use for the Rokkit Buggies is to take out light, fast anti-tank early game to ensure no late turn objective grabs or serious threats to my BW's. The 3 Nobz are actually my objective holders and their BW is given over to the Ork Boyz. The Warboss starts with one unit of Tankbustas and the other squad is joined by the Big Mek. Both units start inside empy Battlewagons and the last empty one starts w/20 boys inside.

This whole list is designed to be very aggressive and in your face. The Tankbustas can actually be used to kill two enemy armored units on a single turn if used correctly. The tankhammer means never fearing dreadnoughts again which helps a lot with those Blood Talon Furiosos. If I can shave some point maybe two boarding planks could be used. It's a fast, bullet/rokkit heavy army and it's solid.

Thoughts are always welcome J

I agree that Tankbustas are underrated, though I dislike having to devote another slot to get them a transport. I would trade two bomb squigs for bosspoles for the warboss/mek, to help keep the tankbustas around. Agree that boarding planks would be good if you can squeeze them in.

Actually, you're better of getting the Nobs that are leading the Tankbustas the bosspoles. That way you don't lose it if your ICs are singled out in assault. It doesn't matter who has the bosspole, you're still rolling on the highest LD in the unit.

As for the list, very interesting. There a ton of potential there for smashing mech lists.

Gah! Comment eaten by internet!

Mostly saying that my complaint with Tank Bustas is that they don't get their own ride. Frankly, that's my complaint with all the elite Ork Selections.
